Arming the Public

Even if all the gun laws currently proposed were passed tomorrow, the intended
effect of reducing or eliminating suicide attacks wouldn’t kick-in for at least another ten or twenty years, if then. Under the circumstances maybe Conceal-and-Carry laws might be a good idea. The sane far outnumber the loonies. A civilian armed with a 9mm semi-automatic and a 13-round clip with one in his pocket for back-up, and his heart into stopping a suicidal madman, is likely to. Maybe
after only 1 dead instead of 27. Will there be mishaps and stupid mistakes that
cause unintended damage and perhaps even an occasional death? Of course. But
that is preferable to 27 dead. Every time.

Furthermore, once defeating these Suicide Attackers becomes routine, a mere one time one-liner blip on the nightly news, no sensationalism, no infamy, no glory, even a madman loses his primary motive, and the suicide attack as a means to infamy will, over time, die out.
