Tony's Finer Foods Sets Jan. 9 Opening Date
The grocery store chain made the announcement on its Facebook page; the Joliet/Plainfield location will be open seven days a week.
Super Tony's Finer Foods on Route 59 has set a Jan. 9 opening date.
The announcement was made Thursday on the Itasca-based company's Facebook page, and was greeted by posts from happy, presumably local people who declared themselves "psyched," "counting down" the days and "You have no idea how much I am looking forward to the opening!"
Store hours have been posted on the company's Web site: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The company has spent the last three months transforming the former Strack & Van Till store at 2300 S. Route 59, which has a Plainfield mailing address but is actually in Joliet.
It will be the ninth store in the Tony's chain, which is mostly located in Chicago and the near-Chicago suburbs.

Enlighten me, what makes Tony's stand out amongst all the other Grocery stores in the area? I have a fancy for Caputo's when I am buying food.

Are we going to get a Caputo's? Many rumors have been going around but we haven't seen one closer than the Plainfield/Naperville store.

Tony's has good prices on deli and meats and their fruits/veggies are a very good selection. I would say it's similar to a Caputo's in terms of produce/deli. Take a look at their store ads on the Tony's Finer Foods website and you can get an idea of what they offer. I think it'll be a good addition to the Joliet/Plainfield area.
