Three Men Shot in Last 2 Days, Police Say
One victim was shot on a friend's porch while the other two were hit as they exited Haboush's Food Mart on Woodruff Street, Joliet Lt. Kevin LaBolle said.
Three Joliet men have been shot since Tuesday -- two as they exited a small food store on Woodruff Street Tuesday night and a third on the porch of a friend's home Wednesday afternoon, Joliet police said.
The 18-year-old victim in the Wednesday incident was the most seriously injured, Joliet Lt. Kevin LaBolle said. He underwent surgery for a chest wound at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet and is expected to survive.
The other two victims, ages 20 and 21, were shot in the wrist and the foot and were treated at Silver Cross Medical Center in New Lenox, LaBolle said.
Both cases are under investigation; there have been no arrests in either, he said.
In the Tuesday shooting, the two men were exiting Haboush Food Mart, 1001 Woodruff, at about 7 p.m., LaBolle said, when an unknown assailant began firing a gun in their direction. He would not disclose if the victims were gang members or if police suspect it may have been a gang attack.
The Wednesday incident took place at about 1 p.m. when the victim was shot while standing on the porch of a friend's home in the 200 block of North Hickory Street, LaBolle said.
The home's resident told police he heard the shot, opened the door and his friend collapsed in the doorway, he said.
The victim told police he did not know the person who shot him; there were no witnesses.
