Services Scheduled for Ryan Knudsen
The Plainfield 22-year-old died Oct. 14 after being struck while walking along I-55.
Visitation for Ryan A. Knudsen, 22, is scheduled for 2 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet.
Knudsen, of Plainfield, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 14, when he was struck while walking along Interstate 55, Illinois State Police said.
Knudsen was a graduate of Central Elementary, Indian Trial Junior High and Plainfield Central High School in District 202, according to his obituary. He worked at Mickey O'Neill's in downtown Plainfield and had received a scholarship to Lewis University in Romeoville, where he planned to study aviation.
"Ryan was a sparkling young man and a gifted student who was full of life," his obituary reads. "He was devoted to his parents and sister, and all his family, especially his Grandpa Bob during his final illness. He will be remembered for his love of music, his kind heart, his wit and unique sense of humor, his infectious smile, and his talent playing the guitar.
"He was the beloved son of Alan and Jackie (nee Larson) Knudsen; dear brother of Kirsten; loving grandson of Janet L. Lindstrand of Morris and Carolynn (Pasquale 'Pat') DiTrocchio of Niota, TN; and fond great-grandson of Howard and Thelma Applen. His loving girlfriend Evelyn Bravo of Crest Hill, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive."

A senseless tragedy. And probably one that could have been prevented had the State Police done their job. Everyday there are problems in the Will County stretch of I-55. If its not accidents caused by texting, eating or reading in a car, or speeding, or illegally loaded trucks, then its the "phony" homeless people soliciting at the Rt 30 exit.
COME ON DISTRICT 5 STATE POLICE - PUT DOWN THE DONUTS AND DO YOUR JOB!!!! START CRACKING DOWN ON THIS STUFF.

Holy cow, this is not the place for you to complain about the police force. Show some respect. A life was lost. Friends and families are grieving.

Case in Point:
Case in Point: Two phony homeless men (wearing brand new NIKE shoes by the way) wandering around the Rt. 30 exit off I-55 darting in and out of cars soliciting for money.
I call the Joliet and Plainfield police: Their response: Its not our job - its the District 5 State Police' Job.
Sooooo ....I call the District 5 State Police and of course the response is...."Its not our job".
And we wonder why we can't get things done in law enforcement or in our courts.
Clean up I-55 lawbreakers, get rid of the vagabonds, and start making our area attractive again.
OR....this will forever be a "Burger King" town of screw ups.

So Amanda must be married to a police officer.
And Brandon believes in news outlets that censor content....unless of course it's his content.
The truth hurts....State Police are not policing that section of I-55 adequately...just read the newspaper accounts of all the accidents, deaths, shootings, traffic snarls and other stuff that happens there during rush hour.
Oh thats right...rush hour is donut time!

Its really sad that 7 comments on here and only 1 says something nice about this loss of life and about this young man. Start your own post to do your debating. My god bless this young mans family and give them strength during this hard time. Rest in peace.

No, I don't want content censored. I want people to respect that someone died. This has nothing to do with your vendetta against the state police. This isn't about you. How bad must your life be that you think this is the proper outlet for your opinion?

If this young man was my son I would be very hurt to know you would go out of your way to debate on my sons article rather than sending your sympathy or respect to the family. Think about who might be reading this and show some respect!

Stupid people!!! This has nothing to do with police work. It has to do with this young man passing away. It is about a family that has lost their so and brother. Have some respect.
