Razor Burn: Woman Sues Schick & Energizer After She Cuts Leg Shaving
A Joliet lawyer filed the lawsiut on behalf of the cut-legged woman in Will County court.
A woman who cut her leg while shaving more than two years ago is suing an international razor company for the pain and suffering she has endured.
Joliet attorney Thomas Cowgill filed the lawsuit against Schick, Schick-Wilkinson Sword and Energizer Holdings in Will County court. Schick and Wilkinson Sword are two of Energizer Holdings' 30 brands.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a woman identified only as Brandy McCarthy. Except for her name, there is no other information about McCarthy included in the lawsuit.
A Will County woman named Brandy McCarthy contacted through Facebook said she is not the one suing Schick. Cowgill failed to return calls to his office Wednesday about the legal action.
The lawsuit claims McCarthy was shaving her legs on Jan. 19, 2011, when the handle of the "manually operated safety razor" she was using "broke apart" in her hand. This left McCarthy with a "long and severe laceration" to her leg.
The long and severe laceration has caused McCarthy "sustained and conscious pain and suffering, sustained loss of enjoyment of normal life, and sustained permanent scarring and disfigurement."
Cowgill's lawsuit puts the price of this ordeal at up to $50,000.

There is no "self responsibility" anymore...this is kind of like the state of Kentucky suing OxyContin makers for reembursement of all Oxy related crimes...if you stop makers from being sued then it can have a bad effect also..people just put things out that can hurt people and share no responsibility...but if you allow all the suits to go through people will be scared to make things...How long until razor companies say " we can not guarantee your not going to break the razor and cut your wrists so we are not going to sell them and shutting down at least in America..or pain companies too afraid to make pain pills...these cases are the "catch 22" of today...yeah they made them and yeah you bought them...I guess that is where the " does it do more good than harm"comes in..

remember the days using those double edge blades and cutting the heck out of the shins on your legs. dang, should have sued, I still have scars, lol. People will sue over anything these days. anything to get rich quick. in the meantime, the consumers have to pay even more $ for things to cover all the stupid law suites.

Wow!!! Me, my hubby and now my teens have cut the living daylights out of some shady spots, docs say, maybe you should Nair?? Where was the reality clue bus to say, "Man up lady, beauty is painful! Learn how to shave, maybe you should learn the, shave with the grain, theory with a Little Tikes razor! No one is, was, or ever will be looking at your legs! It's not the razor!" That's why the lawyer isn't returning the calls he or she realized this is not a Walter Jacobson case!

Now I totally agree that this a stupid thing to sue for, but to say she's suing over "razor burn" is completely false. It clearly states that the handle broke and she received a large laceration on her leg. That's a little more than razor burn. Seems like a little fudging of the details to get more hits. Regardless what it was for, it shouldn't go any further than the filing process. Be accountable for your mistakes..... "Stuff Happens".
