UPDATE: Joliet West's Katie Brick is Patch MVP

Joliet West volleyball standout Katie Brick outpolled two others in voting for Joliet Patch's MVP, Oct. 22-28. Brick is now eligible for Patch Athlete of the Month honors.

Katie Brick, a 5-6 senior setter, did a little bit of everything in Joliet West's three-set loss to Bradley-Bourbonnias in Class 4A regional action. Brick finished with 28 assists, 12 digs, 10 service points, six blocks and three kills.

In voting for Patch's MVP for Oct. 22-28, who gets the biggest roar from the crowd?
Katie Brick, a 5-6 senior setter, did a little bit of everything in Joliet West's three-set loss to Bradley-Bourbonnias in Class 4A regional action. Brick finished with 28 assists, 12 digs, 10 service points, six blocks and three kills.
Joliet Central junior Salvador Lazaro placed 14th in the Class 3A Normal Sectional at Maxwell Park. He was clocked in 15:42 for 3.0 miles. Lazaro next will run in the Class 3A state meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria.
Joliet Catholic Academy senior outside hitter Morgan Reardon led the Angels to their 12th straight regional title. She racked up 17 kills in JCA's 25-19, 24-26, 25-16 victory over rival Providence Catholic.

Tight race here. Brick leads Reardon by a small margin. And don't count out Lazaro. Voting is open until 9 p.m. Thursday.
