Man Hit in Head, Knee in Drive-by Shooting: Cops
The victim is expected to survive; police say they do not know if the attack was random or targeted.
A Crest Hill man was shot in the head Tuesday night in a drive-by shooting directed at a house on Joliet's East Side, police said.
The 21-year-old victim's injuries -- gunshot wounds to the back of the head and the left knee -- are not life-threatening, Joliet police Cmdr. Rich Demick said.
According to reports, the victim and his friend were standing outside the 550 E. Jackson St. house smoking cigarettes when a passing car sprayed bullets at them at about 8:20 p.m., Demick said. Police recovered several .45-caliber shells from the area.
The second man was not injured, but was unable to provide a description of the vehicle or the shooter, Demick said. There were no other witnesses, and it's possible the attack could have been random rather than targeted, he said.
The victim was transported to Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
