Left-Behind Prints Lead Cops to Alleged Burglar

Joliet police say Shaquille Barrow and another suspect broke into an apartment while the victim was gone for the day.

A man who left his fingerprints behind at a crime scene was arrested Tuesday for stealing cash, jewelry and electronics from a home on Center Street.

Shaquille C. Barrow, 17, of 221 Barr Elms, was charged with residential burglary in connection with an Aug. 2 break-in to an apartment in the 100 block of South Center Street, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

The victim told police that she left her home at about 7:30 a.m., and when she returned at about 4:30 p.m. she noticed that the air-conditioner unit in her window was missing, Roechner said. She then discovered both the entry door and her apartment door were open, he said.
