While it is important to get the gun trafficking situation under control, it is important also to remember that a criminal can do just as much damage with arson as he can by gunfire. There is no substitute for good, community based policing with active cooperation between the community and the law enforcement agencies that protect the people. There is also no substitute for good moral training for young people when they are growing up. A racist arsonist is very likely to be someone who had no moral training when he was young.

I think the real story here is why local law enforcement seemed to drop the ball. Why wasn't anyone actually charged for the arson ( and related crimes)? Why did it take the feds charging him for a civil rights violation for any punishment to come to the guy? Are the local police and DA not interested in arrested and charging people who set fires and attempt to kill people?

Being in the real estate field, I know for a fact that this gentleman is correct in that when a "person of color" or is it "colored person" moves into a neighborhood, the property values drop significantly. Once "they" have their foot in the door and open the way for their "relatives", then the neighborhood values really start to plummet. This isn't a racist statement, just fact.
