Joliet Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on Laraway Road
Police say Richard Johnson sustained serious head trauma in the accident and had already died by the time officers arrived.
A Joliet man was killed shortly after midnight Monday when he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown into a median on Laraway Road near Illinois 53.
Richard Johnson, 53, 2906 Streitz Drive, was declared dead at the scene of the crash, Joliet Police Chief Michael Trafton said.
Johnson was traveling westbound on Laraway when he drove up onto a center median just east of the railroad tracks and was thrown from his motorcycle, Trafton said. He traveled more than 100 feet before striking another median, he said.
Johnson sustained serious head injuries, and there was no sign of life by the time police arrived, Trafton said.

Rick and his wife Mary are well loved by hundreds, probably thousands of people. He has been a great friend and family member to all he met, and was a philanthropist with boundless energy. His friendly demeanor, generous sense of humor, can-do attitude and zeal for life have been an inspiration! We pray for a peace for his family and friends that passes all understanding...J Crate
