It's Official -- Isaac to Be a USC Trojan
The Joliet Catholic Academy star running back signed to play football for the University of Southern California.
After injuries and an aborted plan to enroll early, Joliet Catholic Academy star running back Ty Isaac put pen to paper Wednesday and signed to play football for the University of Southern California.
Isaac gave the school an oral commitment in May, but his plans to start at USC in January had to be cancelled when he was unable to graduate early.
Despite the setback -- and some concerns over coach Lane Kiffin's direction of the USC team, which had a bad 2012 season -- Issac stuck with his commitment and signed on the dotted line Wednesday. (Here's his actual signature, which was posted on the USC Web site.)
"I think the whole process, it kind of teaches you about yourself," Isaac told the Chicago Tribune Tuesday. "It is tough to go to a school so far away. They didn't have the best season. Everyone who lives around you is saying you should stay in the Midwest.
"It's tough. It wears on you. At that point you've got to figure out how mentally tough you are. Is USC the right decision? I wasn't going to base that on wins and losses, just the best situation for me. I wouldn't say I had doubts. I had concerns everybody has in the process. I made the right decision."
Issac, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 225, was ranked the No. 4 running back in the country and No. 27 overall.
Want to know more about Isaac? Here are 20 questions he answered for ESPN, which were just posted on the sports channel's Web site: insider.espn.go.com/blog/colleges/usc/post/_/id/8588/20-questions-rb-ty-isaac

For some reason The Patch is an unabashed shill for Joliet Catholic Academy. I'm sure they'll publish where the National Honor Society students got scholarships to attend(eye roll). Also-if his track record at JCA is any indication he'll be out with injuries for most of his college career.

This is just a silly statement. He's receiving attention, not because he want to JCA, but because he was the 3-4 best rated RB in the country and he received a full ride to USC.

I see why you're anonymous, cause no one knows you or cares to know you. You're ashamed of your life and what you haven't done with it. So the next time you look in the mirror, remember that while you're still trying to figure out who you are, we all know who Ty Isaac is, even you!!!!

Why the animosity towards this kid? I don't have ties to the Joliet community but knowing what I know about D1 football, getting a full ride to a school like USC is an impressive accomplishment. Bob and anonymous, is there something the article is not stating about this young man?

@JB, good call. Its pathetic that Bob and anonymous chose to go on a public board and rant about an 18 yr old kid or a High School. Its nice to see that a local kid is getting a chance to go to the most storied college football program in the nation. A school thats had Heisman Trophy winning running backs going back to the 60's. I know Ty's dad and USC was the "dream program" when we were growing up. So, its just a great story. Its just pathetic that two cynical losers chose to get on here and show their ignorance.

The JCA students get millions of dollars in scholarships to attend college. This is a great accomplishment. I don't believe another high school in this area can say the same thing. Also, JCA has a higher graduation rate than any other high school in this area.

Actually, I did graduate college with a full ride in music performance. I really am quite the loser, huh. Point is, all you brain washed people think that this is some accomplishment that many others haven't done before. This isn't anything special is my point...once again, no one cares that a kid made it to college...it's not very hard as long as you're not a dumbass.

Bob he received a full ride scholarship to play football for one of the best college programs in history. I would say that it is a rather significant accomplishment.

So BOB, you limp wristed sissy. You graduated college (lol) in music performance. Still can't get over the jealousy you harbored for jocks. Grow a set Skippy and stop hating. It would be like you got a full ride to Julliard and went on to a Broadway career. Its kind of a big deal. Although, let me guess, if he was white, or gay, then you'd like the story

And like all other glorified former JCA players, he'll be overwhelmed and undersized, then get hurt/leave the team and come back home and turn into a barfly...... or he'll sit for four years on the bench and then fade into obscurity.

Let me guess Matias, before you dropped out of JT, the JCA kids used to make fun of you OR you feel inadequate when you go out for a beer when there's a Hillman around. I think they said the same things about Thayer, Alstott and Fleener.
Now get to work at McDonalds, those Big Macs aren't gonna make themselves.

Seriously? Ok so how many JTHS, LW, or Providence players have made it to the NFL? You do know it's real difficult to start for a division 1 team and 100 times more difficult to play in the NFL correct?
btw, How many should they have in the NFL 15 or 20 maybe?
Also, I forgot Tom Thayer so that makes 2 super bowl champions that played for Joliet Catholic

JCA alumni here btw. Just calling it how I see it. Beating up on local talent is one thing, but the glaring truth is that a majority of these overhyped glorified studs don't do anything beyond the high school level. Remember when mike kolodziej was a surefire NFL prospect? yeah, me neither.

Lol... Ty must be something right if he has all these non-factors trying to diss him. It's sad that an adult would try to make himself feel better by down talking Ty. Grow up and quit taking out your failures on someone else. Ty has had an amazing football career, including too many records to mention. As far as wishing injuries on him, that's just pathetic. Grow up. If you don't like him, which you have no reason not to, keep your immature comments to yourself. While you're still over here beating yourself up cause your life is useless, Ty will be in college at USC doing his thing. With that being said....CONGRATULATIONS TY AND GOOD LUCK IN ALL YOUR FUTURE ENDEAVORS!!!

@Matias, it seems like you have a real issue with JCA, Ty and generally popular successful people. I mean what more can an 18 yr old kid accomplish. I mean seriously sport, look at what you wrote, and your anger. Deal with the fact you're a sniveling little twit who still hasn't dealt with the fact he got picked on in school and continues to harbor anger. Its awesome you can cite a dozen athletes names, who despite time passing, you still remember. But please, please continue to post your jealous rants about an 18 yr old kid who 100's of colleges pursued.
And like i said, get back to the grill and fry those burgers. Use that health insurance McDonalds provides and see a counselor who can help you deal with your issues.

I don't work at McDonalds. I don't care about the limited shelf life of JCA athletes. And I don't care about your lackluster insults. My career is great, I have benefits and most importantly, job security. You can continue to grovel at the throne of HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS (that's not pathetic, at all. Seriously) I'll continue to NOT work at McDonalds and laugh at your fallen idols. Adults worshiping high school students... and I'M the one who needs help. lmao

Hey Matilda, i don't care where you work. Don't say you don't care about the limited shelf life of a JCA student, cause if you didn't you wouldn't have commented in the first place. If your life is so great then why even take the time out of your "great' life to comment negatively about a kid??? Trust me i'm not groveling idiot. Ty is my nephew, so i'm expressing how proud i am. Since no one's ever been proud of you, i'm sure you wouldn't know the difference!! But, i'll continue to work for the government and laugh at you and your failed life. What's PATHETIC is a "grown" man with a "great' life is so worried about the reportings of a high school student. Your mother should of taught you that if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. Now if you'll excuse me, Matilda the hun, i'm going to add your name to the millions of other haters in Ty's books that he doesn't give a damn about.

@Matias, "the limited shelf life"? "grovel at the throne" ? It was a nice story and he's a good kid. It would've been no different then a story about a local kid coming home from the service or a local kid excelling in school at the top level. I commented because cynical little sissies like you commenting on a student being one of the best football players in the country. There is an underlying reason you choose to comment and continue too make yourself look like a real tool. You're proud to have a stable job and security, wow. Thats the norm for an adult but obviously you're proud to be "average". And i'm sure you didn't work at McDonalds, sorry. Now get back to stocking those shelves at Jewel.

Never said it was important to me. You said that JCA football players never accomplish anything. I merely pointed out two cases where they, not only succeeded, but won a Super Bowl.
I guess I don't see why it is necessary to put down a kid for succeeding.
