Diocese Committed to Crest Hill Move: Mayor

However, the diocese officials are talking with the University of St. Francis about possible future uses of its Joliet buildings, Mayor Tom Giarrante said.

 

It's a done deal: The Catholic Diocese of Joliet is moving its offices to Crest Hill.

Although Joliet Mayor Tom Giarrante and Crest Hill Mayor Ray Solimon tried once more to persuade Bishop Daniel Conlon to stay in Joliet rather than fill space in a Crest Hill strip mall, reducing Crest Hill's tax income from the property, the bishop would not be swayed, Giarrante told the Joliet Herald-News.

However, they did learn that the diocese is talking with the University of St. Francis about the possible use of its Joliet buildings, he told the paper.
