Dead, Maltreated Dogs Found in Joliet Home
Police say 15 pit bulls were removed from the house, two of which were already dead and 10 of which had to be euthanized.
Joliet police executing a search warrant in a drug case Thursday found something they hadn't expected: a house full of pit bull and pit bull mix dogs, two of which were dead and 10 of which had to be euthanized.
Nine dogs were in stacked cages, and all of the animals taken from the 119 S. Briggs Ave. home by Joliet Township Animal Control had been mistreated and were injured underfed, according to a story in the Joliet Herald News. Three of the animals recovered may be able to be saved, the story said.
The dogs' owner Amber Norris, 21, was arrested on a warrant Thursday night and charged with 11 counts of animal cruelty, according to arrest log for the Will County jail, where she was being held pending a bond hearing.
No arrest was made in the drug case, the story said, but ammunition, drug packaging material and a digital scale were seized.
