While stealing wasn't the way to go, he just rescued that dog from a life of abuse. I am glad the store lost the profit. That store needs to be shut down. They get their dogs from puppy mills for dirt cheap and sell them for thousands of dollars for profit. While they are there, they hardly ever see the light of day, if at all. Puppy mill dogs also are much more prone to disease and a myriad of health complications. Essentially their customers are overpaying thousands of dollars for dogs that are going to get sick and die before they're supposed to. There are so many perfectly healthy shelter dogs than can be rescued for $150. No one should be supporting this horrific establishment. This store makes me sick to even walk past in the mall.

Agreed with adopt. I've always wanted to steal them dogs. They eventually get put down if not sold before adult hood

Why don't they have security sensors on these puppies? At least they would have known it was being stolen as soon as he left the store.

The dogs always seem drugged up to me. I've never seen so many calm puppies.

I am with a lot of people when I say that dogs should not be purchased from stores and should be adopted from shelters instead. Many puppy stores are linked to puppy mills, this one included, and what goes on in puppy mills is just wrong. That being said, a crime was committed and the puppy should be found and returned. That man should not be applauded for his theft and I hope he is caught. I personally worry about the innocent tiny puppy that is involved with this. Someone who couldn't afford to buy the puppy and felt the need to steal it probably can't afford to take care of it either.

At the end of the day, stealing is wrong folks.

All pet stores get there puppies from puppy mills. Many shops don't even actually know where their dogs come from. The buyers will say that the dogs come from reputable private breeders, and the shop staff are lied to just to propagate this deception and the staff will continue to offer a "guarantee" that the dogs are from private breeders.

The guarantee means nothing, it's not even worth the paper it is written on. There is no legal definition of a puppy mill so they can guarantee all they want. And since there is no legal definition of a puppy mill, you can't actually prove the dog came from a puppy mill so it would never hold up in court.

So while they will guarantee whatever they want, it doesn't make them any less a puppy mill.

Reputable breeders work tirelessly to create dogs that meet the breeds standards and are in excellent health and temperament. They will also guarantee, along with pedigree papers, that you will get your money back if the dog has any health or temperament issues.

Real breeders carefully screen their customers to make sure the dogs are going to the best homes possible. Think about it, would a great breeder give their dogs to store, just to have the pups they lovingly raised go into random homes?

The answer is 'no.' A good breeder will never sell their pups to a store. Most likely, the dogs are getting obtained through a broker, and so the pet store is told that the dogs come from a good breeder, and then the broker doesn't say anything about the dogs actually coming from a mill. Guarantees and whatnot are just fluff to lure customers into a false sense of security.

I've helped shut down two puppy mills and the conditions these dogs are forced to live in are absolutely heartbreaking. The only way to be sure that you are not supporting puppy mills is to adopt or use a reputable breeder. Anything else is more than likely supporting the torturous abuse of animals.

I highly encourage all to do their research on puppy mills. Just do a google image search for puppy mills and you will see the tip of the iceberg

Furry Babies buys their puppies from puppy mills. We have the names of the mills that they buy from. We've seen the USDA reports with all the violations. The parents are prisoners of greed kept in cages their entire lives. No human affection, no grooming, no Vet care, no freedom, toys or even beds. They live on urine and feces covered wire floored cages that rip up their paws. When people buy the puppies, they are supporting the mills and systematic animals abuse along with Consumer Fraud. Please help us educate the public about where the pet stores get their puppies!

Alsip Nursery in Frankfort, IL is a puppy mill. Don't shop there. Get your pets from the shelters. Plenty of wonderful dogs and cats for a fraction of the cost.

I have to say some of you people shock me! This man STOLE a tiny puppy. Do you also comment on a child abduction and state that you "hope they give it a great home". So if this puppy was living in a loving home and the man decided he didn't like how they were caring for it, would that make it alright to steal it? This man in a thief. Confuses me that one minute it is "these poor helpless lives are being neglected in puppy mills" and the next "single mom" is saying its not a human life. So which is it? Are you all animal lovers that care about ALL animals or is it "just" an animal? I know tht everyone at furry babies is very upset about the stolen puppy! They are loved and cared for by every person there!

The employees at the store are being lied to. If any of them had a shred of morality and knew what kind of conditions the puppies' mothers were kept in, they wouldnt work there. No one who has seen a puppy mill could support them in any fashion.

No one is saying that they don't care about this particular puppy. The point is, if anyone cared about ANY puppy, they wouldn't support this store. It's simple supply and demand. One puppy sold means one more puppy needs to be bred and one more puppy will be abused. The loss of profit from this one dog means they may not be able to buy 30 more puppy mill dogs. And while the stealing was definitely wrong, I'm ok with their loss of profit in this case.

If he stole it because he wanted a dog and couldn't afford it, he should have rescued one from a shelter. If he stole it because he is an animal activist, he should have found a better way to make his point.

I'm not sure what kind of background checks are done on the customers before they place their dogs. I question the sanity of anyone willing to pay that much without doing any research, so I don't have a whole lot of confidence in the people going home with these dogs anyway. At the very least, I hope there is some kind of screening process. Otherwise selling the dog to a stranger would be just as risky for the dog as being stolen by a stranger.

I am glad he took the puppy! People shouldn't be buying dogs there anyway...they should be rescuing them from pounds and shelters. That store should be closed. No animal should be bought like a material thing. All those dogs are from puppy mills. It's not the dogs fault...but we have to stop supporting this kind of sale!

Let's hope he's not abusing the puppy. We can't rejoice the theft of this puppy because we don't know what it's fate is. Yes, those puppies come from evil puppy mills and anyone on this thread that denies it should do some reading up on this. I have helped rescues with breeder dog realeases and even the small time breeders neglect the mama and daddy dogs. Very sad and these breeders whether they be big or small operations are staying in business because of the idiots that buy puppies from stores.
