15-Year-Olds Busted Breaking into Stores
The teens were found by police inside one of the Ruby Street businesses, which they entered by using a hammer to break the glass door, Joliet police say.
A pair of 15-year-old boys were arrested Wednesday for breaking into two Ruby Street businesses, according to the Joliet Police Department.
The teens were discovered inside Quality Home Hardware, 365 Ruby Street, after a neighbor called police about hearing glass breaking at about 4:30 a.m., police Cmdr. Rich Demick said. The pair had found beer inside, and were looking for food, he said.
Previously, they had used a hammer to break the glass door of Security Muffler & Brake Service, 362 Ruby, where they took a flashlight, and to break the windows on two cars parked in the muffler store's lot in order, Demick said.
Both boys have been charged with burglary and theft and are being held in the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.
For a short while, one of the suspects was held in the Will County jail because he gave police a false name and birthdate that would have made him 18, Demick said. When they learned his true identity, he was transfered to the juvenile jail.
