USF Holding Two College Events for Hispanic Families

  • November 11, 2012

The University of St. Francis (USF) and its Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Taskforce will present two winter events for Spanish-speaking families considering a USF education.

First, a Hispanic Open House will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the university’s Turk Studio Theater, 500 Wilcox Street, Joliet, Ill. Admissions counselors will be on hand to talk more about programs offered by the university and how to navigate the admission process.

Next, a bilingual presentation titled “How to Pay for College"/“Cómo pagar la Universidad” will be offered on Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Turk Studio Theater. Attendees will receive tips on not only enrolling, but also finding financial relief through available scholarships.

Said Eric Ruiz, chairman of the university’s HSI Taskforce, “These events are designed for the Hispanic community both at USF and in the surrounding areas. They will help the Hispanic community better understand and become better prepared when and while their children go to school—especially college.”

To receive more information on these or other USF events from a bilingual university representative, call (815) 740-5070.
