Petition the Mayor and City Council to include an exception to the zoning ordinance allowing a flock of up to 6 or 8 hens (no roosters) in well-maintained backyard chicken coops within the city limits of Joliet. 

Current ordinances consider these pets farm animals. Hens are quiet, docile, and require very little care. They are far less of a nuisance than most dogs, and a flock of 6 hens produces less waste than a dog. Plus, they provide eggs and the opportunity of a great educational experience for kids who think their chicken nuggets grow on trees in Wal-Mart freezer cases.
