Manley Seeking Citizen Volunteers for Advisory Committees

  • January 16, 2013

State Rep. Natalie Manley (D-Joliet) is forming advisory
committees comprised of local residents to provide community feedback on legislative ideas and proposals.

“I have worked for almost two decades in accounting, tax preparation, auditing and budgeting,” Manley said. “As a CPA, I have a great deal of experience in financial matters that can be an asset in Springfield, but in order to represent our area effectively on the wide spectrum of issues facing the state legislature, I am reaching
out to local residents, asking them to lend me their expertise and advice.”

Manley’s Citizen-Led Issue Advisory Committees, which will meet quarterly, will include:

•       Economic Development Advisory Committee
•       Transportation Advisory Committee
•       Education Advisory Committee
•       Retirees Advisory Committee
•       Public Safety Advisory Committee
•       Health Care Advisory Committee
•       Veterans Matters Advisory Committee

“As I walk door to door or meet people out in the community, I am asking everyone to attend a meeting at least once, from ordinary citizens who are concerned about a matter and would like to make a difference by becoming more civically engaged, to professionals in a
field related to the matter,” Manley said.

"Illinois is facing some serious challenges, and we must begin by listening to all voices and encouraging open, honest discussions.”

To join an advisory committee, please email RepManley@gmail.com, or visit her constituent service office located at 2701 Black Road, Suite 201 in Joliet which is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to accommodate the schedules of working and busy residents.
