Joliet Businesses Pass State Check on Alcohol Sales
Illinois State Police conducted Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement surveillance at 10 Joliet stores and restaurants selling liquor on Sept. 26, and none sold alcoholic beverages to anyone under the age of 21.
However, two businesses -- one in Lockport and the other in Crest Hill -- were not as lucky.
Lockport Ranch Liquor employee Jalil A. Abdallah, 58, and Crest Hill A-1 Liquor and Cigarettes employee Umesh M. Patel, 38, were arrested for unlawful delivery of alcoholic liquor to a minor, a Class A misdemeanor.
The Joliet businesses that were checked were:
Sugar Creek Liquors, 1200 Richards St.; Liquor Express, 1415 Plainfield Road; Consumers Liquors, 1607 W. Jefferson; Ranch Liquor, 1913 S. Chicago; Stang Kelly Liquors, 712 W. Jefferson; Consumers Liquors, 1134 Plainfield Road; Calderon Liquors, 741 N. Collins; TGI Friday’s, 1078 Louis Joliet Mall; Applebee’s, 2795 Plainfield Road; and Consumers Liquors, 2352 Glenwood Ave.
